Amidst the festivities and the laughter
You stood, the one who was much sort after.
An idol to throngs of followers – a peer.
One who the children didst open their ears to hear.
Thought invulnerable, invincible, undefeatable,
But inside you wrestled with demons incurable.
Day by day, you painted on your mask.
Til the terror at night was too much to ask.
So you painted on your mask, even as you plummeted down.
And as everyone was distracted, you slipped out.
You thought no one saw you dissappear that day.
But I saw you. I watched you slip away.
I watched you slip away.
Story behind the poem:
Written about the role models I had who slipped away. They thought no one would notice, but someone is always watching.
